The Cabin at Whitetail Pines
The Cabin at Whitetail Pines is an authentic log cabin on two wooded acres in Rockbridge, Ohio, right in the heart of Hocking Hills, and it holds a special place for us because it was the first property we ever bought. Back in 2019, we were looking for a cabin that felt like the kind of place we'd want to spend a long weekend in ourselves. We found it here. Everything that Reserve the Hills has grown into started with this cabin, and we still put the same care into it that we did the day we got the keys.Premier Host Top 10% of guest reviews in this area 220 reviews · 9.8/10
Sleeping and space
The cabin is a full 2,000 square feet across three levels, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms (one on each floor), and sleeps up to nine. The layout works well for a multi-family weekend, a group of friends, or a larger family trip with room for everyone to spread out and still gather around the same table for dinner.
Amenities
Inside, you'll find leather furnishings that hold up to real use, granite counters in the kitchen, and multiple fireplaces that make the cabin feel right in any season. The kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cook a proper dinner, with plenty of counter space for prepping snacks and pouring coffee in the morning. Outside, the wraparound deck and walkout basement give the cabin a real outdoor footprint. The 6 person hot tub runs year round and is the spot most guests gravitate to after a day of hiking. The fire pit gets used pretty much every night the weather allows. Air conditioning, onsite parking, an outdoor grill, and a wraparound porch round out the setup. The two acres of woods around the cabin give you the quiet you came for.
Location and nearby attractions
The cabin's location is one of its best features. You're a 9 minute drive from Hocking Hills State Park, which puts Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, and Conkle's Hollow within easy reach, and Cantwell Cliffs is just 11 minutes away. The Hocking Hills Market is the same 11 minute drive when you need groceries. If you want to mix in something other than hiking, Hocking Hills Canopy Tours runs zip-line courses nearby, and the Hocking Hills Canoe Livery is a good way to spend an afternoon on the water.
Where to eat
When you don't feel like cooking, there are some solid options close by. 58 West in Logan is a good sit-down spot for dinner. Kindred Spirits is worth the trip for something a little more special. Pizza Crossing covers the night when you've been hiking all day and just want to eat on the couch in front of a fire.
